License сodes for subscription plan activation

Last update: 26.02.2026

This guide explains what license codes are, how they work, and how to activate them. You'll also learn about using codes on cameras with active plans and the conditions for refunds or reusing a license.

  1. What is a license code and how does it work?
  2. Can I use a license code on a camera with an active plan?
  3. How do I activate a license code?
  4. Can I get a refund for an unused license?

1. What is a license code and how does it work?

A license code is a special code that activates a subscription plan for a camera in the service. Key points:

  • The license validity period starts from the moment of activation — i.e., the first time it's assigned to a camera. If the license is released (when a camera is deleted or the plan is changed), its validity period continues to expire.
  • Each license code is valid for 3 years from its issue date (when generated by Ivideon). If not activated within this period, it can no longer be used.
  • Only new, unused license codes can be used to renew a plan. If a code has already been used on any camera, it cannot be used for renewal.

Each license code can be applied:

  • To a single camera at a time. A license code can be reactivated on another camera within the same account if the old camera was deleted or its plan was changed or disconnected. Bulk licenses for activating plans on multiple cameras at once are not available.
  • In a single Ivideon account. Upon first activation, the account details are saved in the service. Activating the same license code in a different account is not possible — even if the old camera was deleted or its plan was changed.

2. Can I use a license code on a camera with an active plan?

Yes, but there are specific rules. If a license is activated on a camera that already has an active plan, the scenario depends on the existing plan:

  • If the active plan is identical to the new license (same parameters and also activated with a license), it will be extended by the new license's validity period (up to 3 years in total).
  • If the active plan differs from the new license, the old plan will be disconnected and replaced by the new one. In this case:
    • If the active plan was activated with another license, that license is released and can be reused according to the conditions above.
    • If the active plan was paid for in the regular way, it will be disconnected and funds for the unused period will be automatically refunded to your account balance.

However, if a license code has already been activated on one camera, it cannot be used to renew a plan on another camera with an active plan (but it can be used on a camera without an active plan).

3. How do I activate a license code?

1. License codes are activated when connecting a subscription plan. At the plan selection stage, click the I have a license code link in the top-right corner.

2. Enter the license code in the window that opens and click Continue.

3. Complete the activation by clicking Activate license.

4. Can I get a refund for an unused license?

Refunds for fully or partially unused licenses are not available. However, if you release a license (by deleting the camera it was activated on or changing its plan) before its validity period ends, you can reactivate that license on another camera in the same account (provided the new camera has no active plan).
